My first Aurora!

Aurora Australis 7th Oct 2015. Mt Wellington, Tasmania. My first aurora sighting and what a show it was. As the sun set the aurora was slightly visible before dark. When night fell the show started with a lovely dancing display. The smoke from nearby fires added to the weird feeling seeing such a phenomenon with my own eyes.

ANZAC DAY Centenary tribute.

My photography has taken me to some magnificent places and events over the years. The other night was no exception; I had been planning on doing this for a while.

I wanted to capture the legacy left behind from those past and present who have given their heart and souls to make Australia what it is today. After visiting the shrine of remembrance during the day I decided to return at dusk a few nights later and take a series of photos to remember the centenary of the Gallipoli landing on the 25th April 1915. I spent about 2 hours at the shrine composing the images that best represented their legacy. I then found the “Ode of Remembrance” and overlayed the words on the images. Some of the ode we hear all the time, others we do not, so was a great opportunity to show some of the other lines to the poem.

Also to commemorate the centenary of the Gallipoli landing the Bolte Bridge over the Yarra River was lit up in red signifying the colour of the poppy. This was such a great sight to see knowing the significance behind it. Amazing how just a bridge can be changed in an instant. I went to two locations spending about 1 ½ hours capturing the beauty. The newly installed LED lights did not disappoint. The red light from the two pillars was creating a gentle red glow to the clouds above.

I also photographed an old plastic poppy that I had got years ago on ANZAC day and placed one on each image.

Please feel free to like and share the series of images, not for propaganda, but to continue their legacy that they have left behind for all Australians and New Zealanders and future generations.

Markets!

It's been a very busy 2 weeks getting ready for the Elwood community market and the Western Health (Sunshine Hospital) multicultural day stall.  Both days were a success in showcasing my products to the public and I look forward to many more market days, so watch this space. Below are some photos from both markets/stalls.

Frames taking shape!

So I have a few photos now to fill the frames. I am also experimenting with the diffused vs clear glass. So excited to see some of my most prized photos framed! Mixing and matching the frames/mat colours to suit the photos too.....

Normal Blog

Hi everyone, I am starting this blog separate from my USA storm chasing blog to keep everyone updated of my recent travels and exciting projects.

I will start off with a few photos from my frame making process. I spend many hours on each frame that is made, from cutting, gluing, tacking, sanding, staining, clear coat, getting the photos printed and glass cut, cutting the mats, assembling everything together and adding the final touches does take quite a bit of time. After all the blood sweat and tears the final product is worth all the fuss. I do have a fine attention to detail which usually makes the whole process much longer.

A reminder that all my images are available framed. Large 20"x15", Small 13 3/4"x10 1/4". Sorry about the small frame size dimensions, but I am recycling the inside of the large mats and making a mat for the smaller size frame and that's what it turned out to be! Actual approx photo sizes Large frame - 15"x10", Small Frame 10"x7".
